Adding her voice in support of caretaker chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the newly elected Nainital MLA Sarita Arya said that she had contested and won the Assembly election under Dhami’s leadership. She said that it was under Dhami’s leadership that the Bharatiya Janata Party won the Assembly election with a resounding majority. Arya further said that as Dhami was campaigning for party candidates in all the constituencies, he was unable to give as much time as needed to his own constituency of Khatima due to which he faced defeat in the constituency. The MLA went on to state that had her constituency not been a reserved seat, she would have been ready to vacate her seat for Dhami. She said that she personally requests the State and Central leadership of the party to appoint Dhami as the next chief minister of Uttarakhand. It will be recalled that Arya was earlier the Uttarakhand Mahila Congress state president and had left the Congress to join the BJP after not getting a ticket from the Congress to contest the Assembly election.
