Heavy rainfall warning issued for mountainous regions

The monsoon which had arrived in some parts of Uttarakhand on Saturday covered the remaining regions of the State on Sunday. Various parts of the State received light to moderate rain on Saturday night and Sunday causing a considerable drop in the maximum temperature in Dehradun and other parts of the State. Meanwhile, the State meteorological centre has issued an alert regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning, intense/very intense spells likely to occur at isolated places in the mountainous regions on Monday. The centre has also issued a warning (watch) regarding the possibility of heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places in the mountainous regions today.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky. Few spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 28 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places on Sunday were 26 degrees Celsius and 23.2 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 28.6 degrees Celsius and 23.9 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 18.5 degrees Celsius and 15.2 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 20.8 degrees Celsius and 18.8 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. There was 107 millimetres rain in Chamba, 74 millimetres in Devprayag, 42 millimetres in Rishikesh, 70.5 millimetres in Lansdowne, 39.5 millimetres in Dehradun and 28 millimetres in Rudraprayag.
