Monsoon arrives in U’khand, very heavy rain warning issued for 7 districts

The southwest monsoon advanced over most parts of Uttarakhand on Saturday.The arrival of monsoon has been marked with a marked drop in the maximum temperature in Dehradun and other parts of the State. The State meteorological centre has issued a warning (alert) regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall with very intense/ extremely intense spells likely to occur at isolated places in Nainital, Champawat, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Dehradun, Tehri and Pauri districts on Sunday. Further, heavy rainfall with intense/very intense showers is likely to occur at isolated places in the remaining districts of Uttarakhand. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are very likely to occur at most places in the districts of the State.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is likely to witness partly to generally cloudy skies with few spells of rain/thunderstorms likely to occur of which one to two spells may be of intense showers in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 30 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Saturday were 29.4 degrees Celsius and 24.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 30.9 degrees Celsius and 28.4 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 22.5 degrees Celsius and 16.8 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 26 degrees Celsius and 19.8 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Light to moderate rainfall was recorded in various parts of the State with 58.5 millimetres in Jhajhra, 54.5 millimetres in Khanpur, 32.9 millimetres in Roorkee, 25 millimetres in Jaspur and 19.5 millimetres in Laldhang.
