Maharaj announces State fair status for Jagda Mela to be held at Hanol

The State’s Tourism and Culture minister Satpal Maharaj pulled up officials of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for the inferior quality of construction works at the Mahasu Devta temple in Hanol. While attending a meeting regarding the Jagda (Hariyali Mela) to be held at Hanol on the last day of his tour programme, the minister declared State fair status for the traditional fair. Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the minister said that the PM mentioning Mahasu Devta’s Jagda in his Mann Ki Baat programme has brought prominence to this area. He further said that the State government will prepare a master plan for the entire temple complex and give it a systematic form.

Maharaj further directed officials to ensure all proper arrangements for the fair including light, security and the Bhandara. Stating that all have to work together to make the event a success, the minister also announced that 1,000 blankets will be provided to the temple through the Manav Utthan Seva Samiti. The office bearers of the Mahasu Devta Mandir Samiti, Hanol, officials and members of the local community were also among those present on the occasion.
