Maximum temperature rises to 36.3°C in Doon, heat expected to continue

Light rain & thunderstorms forecast in parts of three districts today

The maximum temperature in the provisional State capital Dehradun rose four degrees above normal to 36.3 degrees Celsius on Friday. The minimum temperature also rose by two degrees above normal on the day. The State meteorological centre has forecast that the maximum temperature is likely to increase by two to three degrees Celsius at many places in Uttarakhand during the next four to five days and reach four to five degrees Celsius above normal.

The meteorological centre has also forecast that very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts on Saturday while dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts.

Dehradun is forecast to witness mainly clear skies with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be about 36 degrees Celsius and 18 degrees Celsius respectively on Saturday.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Friday were 36.3 degrees Celsius and 18.5 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 37.2 degrees Celsius and 14.3 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 24.3 degrees Celsius and 10.8 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 25.6 degrees Celsius and 14.6 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
