The Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat sprang a surprise for the faculty members, staff and students of the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) on Thursday when he conducted an inspection of the college. In his visit the minister met the students and listened to their problems. On a stern note, the minister told the officers of the department that the medical students are the doctors of the future and they should be provided better facilities along with quality education.

The minister gave a severe dressing down to the college administration for the mismanagement and directed them to improve things. Rawat inspected the mess and hostels and inquired about the facilities. Rawat said that he took stock of the activities of the college and the educational programme during his visit. He said that orders have been given to the officers concerned to improve the arrangements.

Rawat added that the college administration has been directed to provide fresh and nutritious food to the students and maintain cleanliness in the college campus and hostels. He said that no laxity in the medical college would be tolerated. It is pertinent to mention here that the minister had recently inspected the government medical colleges of Srinagar and Haldwani.
