MCR launches vehicle to raise public awareness

In order to raise public awareness on various aspects of civic sanitation and public health, the Municipal Corporation of Roorkee (MCR) has launched a vehicle for this purpose. The Roorkee mayor Gaurav Goel and municipal commissioner Noopur Verma flagged off the Swachchhta Prahari Rath for this purpose on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, the mayor said that this jeep will travel to every municipal ward and raise public awareness on aspects including source segregation of garbage, dengue, Covid-19 and other issues. The corporation has been undertaking consistent efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic to raise public awareness and to protect the public from the virus. The efforts of the MCR are aimed at keeping the city clean and beautiful while also protecting the public from diseases like Covid and dengue, added Goel. Stressing on the importance of public awareness, he said that the citizens also need to comprehend their responsibility. The people need to dispose of their garbage in the collection vehicles and prevent accumulation of water to check the scope for dengue. The assistant municipal commissioner Chandrakant Bhatt, councillors Mayank Pal, Dhiraj, Pramod Pal, Virendra Gupta and others were also present on the occasion.
