The sanitation teams of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun remained busy the whole day after the spells of heavy rain waterlogged several areas of the city during the wee hours on Wednesday.

Since Wednesday morning, the corporation started receiving complaints of waterlogging in its disaster control room from the areas like Nehrugram, Ajabpur Kalan, Sahastradhara Road, Raipur, Patelnagar and ISBT. As informed by the control room operator, the MCD received about 25 complaints at around 1 PM while the number of complaints increased to over 35 by the late evening on Wednesday. “The teams worked all day across the city to resolve waterlogging issues and will continue to do so till they go through all the complaints.

Most of the complaints are associated with waterlogged streets and water filled in vacant plots due to which water entered in some homes of certain areas. “We also received complaints of waterlogging from some councillors too. However, the situations were nowhere extreme on Wednesday as the last week,” informed the operator.

Officials informed that five employees including a supervisor remain available in each of the two shifts  during  the day while eight employees stay during the night shift in the control room which is operating for 24 hours since June.
