The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) started a full-fledged anti-plastic campaign from. The officials asserted that the corporation has now started to raise awareness among locals, especially vendors and shopkeepers at a higher level against ban on usage of plastic bags. This, after recently receiving the State Government’s order to reinstate the plastic ban.
According to municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, he has formed five teams to raise awareness in the five zones of the city. The teams collected plastic waste and raised awareness against single-use plastic in their respective areas on Wednesday, informed Pandey. He said, “We have planned to run an awareness campaign for eight to 10 days and after that, we will take action and start imposing penalties on every offender in the city.”
