Dehradun and various other parts of the State witnessed another day of dry and hot conditions with the maximum temperature in the provisional State capital being recorded at 38.7 degrees Celsius on Sunday. Some partial relief from the heat may be experienced in some places today with the State meteorological centre forecasting very light to light rain/thunderstorms likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Dehradun and Pithoragarh districts. Dry weather will prevail in the remaining districts of the State on Monday.

Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 39 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Monday.

Meanwhile, the heat resulted in most people preferring to remain indoors during the afternoon in Dehradun. The usually busy roads wore an almost deserted look as people preferred to remain indoors than bear the hot temperatures under the clear skies during the afternoon. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places on Sunday were 38.7 degrees Celsius and 20.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 39.4 degrees Celsius and 17.8 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 28.5 degrees Celsius and 13.1 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 28.6 degrees Celsius and 13.6 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
