Man arrested for looting after making victims unconscious through sedative-laced cold drinks

Lalkuan police arrested a member of a gang suspected to have looted two youths after making them have cold drinks laced with sedatives. Police started investigation after the alleged victims lodged FIR. It is learnt that the incident happened under Halduchaur police station limit when a youth identified as Bir Bahadur Devkota, resident of Bhawali in Nainital district, was going along with his friend to Nepal from Haldwani on March 9. As they fell unconscious after drinking the sedative-laced cold drink Rs 13,500 was taken away from them along with a mobile keypad phone. The arrested member of the gang has been identified as Hemraj Singh aged 22. It is further learnt from police that Rs 9,500 and the mobile phone have been recovered from the accused.
