A man reportedly involved in an extra-marital affair allegedly murdered his pregnant wife here on Friday night. The husband allegedly strangled his six-months pregnant wife and mother of their older child after an argument over his affair.
Ravindra, a resident of Rampur Raighati village in the Laksar Kotwali area was married two and a half years ago to Kajal. After marriage, Kajal gave birth to a son. It is alleged that Ravindra was having an affair with another woman which was being opposed by Kajal. This was the reason for frequent arguments between husband and wife. On Friday night too, there was a heated argument between the husband and wife following which he allegedly murdered his wife by strangling her. He reportedly told the relatives that Kajal’s health had deteriorated after falling from the bed. They took her to a doctor who declared her brought dead. Relatives of the deceased informed the police about death and the strangulation mark on her neck.
Laksar police station inspector Yashpal Singh Bisht said that marks were found on Kajal’s throat considering which prima facie it appears as if she was strangulated. The body has been sent for post-mortem while the husband was taken into custody for questioning. On receipt of the complaint, further action will be taken after registering a case.
