Reacting strongly to a recent statement made by cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has said that such a comment does not behove a person holding the position of a cabinet minister. The minister in a recent public meeting has allegedly said that only BJP serves the people while other parties are nothing but brokers.

Mahara said that the Trivendra Singh Rawat government which boasted about getting the NH 74 scam investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) backtracked after a letter from Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. He said that Joshi should state whether this incident was a blow on corruption or an act of patronising it. “Similarly, Joshi should tell if the act of thrashing of an RSS worker on the road by the cabinet minister Prem Chand Agarwal comes under the definition of public service for him,’’ he asked.

He added that Joshi should tell whether the BJP leaders Hakam Singh, Sanjay Dhariwal and others involved in paper leak cases were serving the youngsters. He said that the BJP leader Aditya Kothari has defaulted on a loan of Rs one crore from the district cooperative bank and the Dehradun mayor’s assets have increased twenty times in the last five years.

The PCC president said that Joshi himself is giving protection to the corruption of his department. He said though the BJP leaders talk a lot on making the State free from corruption but it has refrained from appointing a Lokayukta in the State despite strong advocacy by former chief minister and BJP leader major general (Retd) BC Khanduri.

“Joshi should tell as to why Dehradun Smart City works are not getting completed even after more than six years and to whom the commission money was paid,’’ the PCC president asked.
