A four-year old girl was killed by a leopard at a village in Pithoragarh district on Saturday evening.
In Chacharet village of Berinag Tehsila four-year-old Bharati Mehra was lifted by a leopard from her home at about 7 PM. The girl’s body was recovered at a distance of about 150 metres from the house after the family members raised the alarm and searched for her. As soon as the information about the incident was received, officials of the district administration and forest department along with police and revenue department personnel left for the village. The local MLA Fakir Ram Tamta reached the spot to console the family members. He spoke about facilitating assistance and getting the leopard trapped.
