Heavy to very heavy rain likely in State today

Even as various parts of the State received light to moderate rain on Saturday, the State meteorological centre has issued a warning (alert) for Sunday. The meteorological centre has issued an orange alert regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places in the State on Sunday. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and intense/very intense spells are likely to occur at isolated places in the State today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at most places in districts of the State today.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness partly to generally cloudy skies. Few spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur, one or two of which may be intense/heavy in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 28 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Sunday.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Saturday were 26.2 degrees Celsius and 24.2 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 34.4 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 20.4 degrees Celsius and 15.5 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 19.4 degrees Celsius and 18.2 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. With light to moderate rainfall being reported in various parts of the State, 28 millimetres was reported each in Almora and Purola, 25.5 millimetres in Bhagwanpur, 17.5 millimetres in Roorkee, 5.6 millimetres in Dehradun, five millimetres in New Tehri ad 15 millimetres in Vikasnagar.
