With the Kedarnath pilgrimage in Uttarakhand reaching its peak in terms of the number of pilgrims, the State and the Rudraprayag district administrations are taking every possible step to ensure hassle-free pilgrimage. To ensure that the pilgrims do not face health-related problems during the pilgrimage, a number of medical review points have been set up along the bridle path. This is meant to facilitate health check- ups of the passengers.  According to the health department, paramedical staffers have been deployed in large numbers at the important points along the pilgrimage route like Sonprayag and Gourikund. However, despite all this, 24 people have died in 22 days since the pilgrimage commenced. These deaths are being ascribed to heart attacks.
