In protest against the rising prices, the women wing of Uttarakhand Congress organised a march from the head office of state Congress to the clock tower on Friday.

Addressing the party workers, the Uttarakhand president of Mahila Congress Jyoti Rautela said that in the self proclaimed Amrit Kal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has witnessed unprecedented events such as devaluation of Rupee as compared to the dollar. She said that the manner in which the rupee is falling it would not be a wonder if it hits a century like the price of petrol. Rautela said that the Modi government has only looted the hard earned money of the people from the year 2014. She said that the prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas are increasing continuously even as the international crude price has fallen by 75 per cent. Rautela added that increase in prices of fuel has a cascading effect on the prices of food items, vegetables and other essential commodities.

The State vice president of Mahila Congress Asha Manorama Dobriyal Sharma said that the price of a cylinder of cooking gas was Rs 414 during the Congress party’s regime but now it has increased to Rs 1,050. The prices of other things have also increased manifolds, the people would hit the roads if the prices are not checked, she said.

Congress leaders Godavari Thapli, Garima Dasauni and a large number of party leaders and workers attended the protest march.
