Centre approves Rs 951 crore special assistance to U’khand

The Union government has approved a sum of Rs 951 crore to Uttarakhand as special assistance under the capital investment plan 2023-24 of the Finance ministry. A total of 48 projects in the State will be financed with this assistance.

The Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) is one of the biggest beneficiaries of the Union government’s special assistance scheme for the capital investment as a sum of Rs 93.98 crore has been sanctioned for it. A sum of Rs 60 crore has been approved for the 500-bed medical college while Rs 33.98 crore has been sanctioned for the medical college campus in Dehradun. The Finance ministry has approved a sum of Rs 110 crore for providing drinking water facility in the rural areas under the Jal Jeevan Mission and a sum of Rs 56 crore has been approved for the State’s share under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) under the special assistance scheme for the year 2023-24. Similarly Rs 55 crore and Rs 25.91 crore have been sanctioned for Roorkee -Deoband rail line construction and setting up a skill hub in Sahaspur, Dehradun respectively. An assistance of Rs 25 crore each has been given for setting up a farm machinery bank, Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Tanakpur and bus depot/ workshop in Dehradun under the plan. A sum of Rs 20.16 crore has been sanctioned for the Almora sewerage scheme under the special assistance plan of the union ministry of finance. The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman for the special assistance to the State.
