Increase testing, observe special vigilance in next 15 days: CM

Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has directed officials to increase Covid-19 testing in the state. Special efforts will have to be made for this in Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital districts. The CM said this while chairing a meet with officials to review the status of the pandemic in the state.

Rawat directed that public awareness campaigns on protection from Covid be undertaken regularly through different media. With the movement of people increasing in the current festive season, along with public awareness, the use of masks and observance of social distancing must be ensured in crowded places, tourist spots and religious sites. With the cooperation of business and social organisations, special focus should be laid on sanitisers and sanitation in shops during the festive season. Stating that there should be full arrangement of human resource for protection from Covid-19, he stressed on the need for special vigilance during the next 15 days. Covid test reports should be received by the people within 24 hours in urban areas and within 48 hours in rural areas. Those whose antigen test is symptomatic should mandatorily undergo RT-PCR test. There should be cent per cent testing of high risk contacts and the personnel concerned should make field visits consistently during the festive season. The number of lab technicians, radiologists and Asha workers should be raised to ensure their adequate availability in all the districts. Stressing on the important responsibility of doctors, the CM said that they should psychologically strengthen the patients while senior doctors should also remain in constant touch with the patients.

Health secretary Amit Singh Negi said that this week had seen a rise in the Covid cases in the state. The district magistrates need to make more efforts to control this. Tru-NAT testing should be increased further and all the DMs should ensure full availability of all necessary items considering Covid.Director general (Law and Order) Ashok Kumar said that the police are undertaking marches, using posters, wall paintings and other means to raise public awareness. While the citizens violating guidelines regarding wearing masks and social distancing are being penalised, they are also being provided with masks free of cost, he added.
