Asks doctors & staff to discharge their duties properly to run hospital in a better manner with the limited resources available

The health secretary R Rajesh Kumar conducted surprise inspection of sub district hospital of Mussoorie on Sunday. His sudden arrival created panic among the staff members of the hospital. Kumar expressed annoyance at the mismanagement and lack of sanitation in the hospital premises and sought explanation from the chief medical superintendent (CMS) of the hospital for absence of doctors and other employees.
The secretary said that it appears that the doctors posted in Mussoorie are not taking ownership role which is unfortunate. He said that the officers deployed in the hospital should discharge their duties so that the hospital can be run in a better with the limited available resources.
On a stern note the secretary directed the doctors and other staff not to take leaves without permission of the chief medical officer (CMO). During his visit Kumar inspected the emergency room, doctors chambers, ICU, CT scan, Ultrasound and X ray facilities. He called the director general (DG) of state health services on phone and directed her to hold stay in Mussoorie and remove the shortcomings and lack of staff in the hospital. Kumar directed the CMO of Dehradun to look at the shortage of the paramedical and class IV employees and take necessary action to address the problem. The secretary said that he is visiting different hospitals of the State so that the shortcomings and detected and removed. He said that soon the health department would get more than 800 nurses which would provide relief to the general public. Kumar said that much paucity was found in the operation of Mussoorie hospital and now a plan would be prepared for better management of the hospital. He that though the Mussoorie hospital is suffering from shortage of staff but even those present are not discharging their duties regularly. Kumar said that seven doctors of the hospital have gone on leave to do PhD. He said that new work plan would include better utilisation of the available CT scan, X ray and ICU facilities and MRI facility too would be made available in the hospital.
