District administration acquires GMVN property to restrict Covid-19 spread in Rishikesh

In view of increasing Covid-19 cases in Rishikesh, the Dehradun district administration has acquired Bharat Bhumi Tourist complex, GMVN in Rishikesh to utilise it as a Covid care centre. According to the district magistrate Ashish Kumar Srivastava, several people are arriving in Rishikesh from various States due to the ongoing Kumbh Mela. He asserted that the number of positive patients of Covid-19 has also increased considerably in the last few days in the Rishikesh area.

Considering the increasing number of patients in the hospitals, Srivastava said that the administration decided to take over Bharat Bhumi Tourist Complex, GMVN as a Covid care centre to provide necessary medical help to the patients. He also appealed to people to avoid crowded areas during the ongoing Kumbh Mela if they experience fever, cough and cold and advised them to get tested for Covid-19 while following all the guidelines.
