Friday, 12 APRIL 2024 | PNS | HARIDWAR

In latest news from Uttarakhand, rebutting the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Ganga canal jibe at Congress at his mega poll rally in Rishikesh, the Congress veteran and the former chief minister Harish Rawat said while conducting a road show at Tibri  for the Haridwar Congress candidate  that the PM had indulged in lies to malign his party.

“In its long history, the Congress has never called the Ganga at Har Ki Pauri as a canal. My party has a long association with Har Ki Pauri. Leaders from Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya to Rajiv Gandhi have done a lot for this revered ghat. Besides, the beautification of the Ganga ghats has been done during the Congress regime,” he said and added that the traders are now being harassed by the BJP government in the name of Harki Pauri Corridor.

However, he admitted that in order to save Ganga, he had said that the river flowing through Har Ki Pauri was in the form of a canal of Ganga.
