The agitation of the terminated employees of Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha continued for the fifth day on Friday.  The employees also took out a protest march from Vidhan Sabha to the Rispana bridge. Former cabinet minister Mantri Prasad Naithani visited the agitation site on the day to extend his support.

These employees are accusing the speaker Ritu Khanduri of adopting a selective approach and are demanding that the employees appointed prior to the year 2016 should also be removed from the Vidhan Sabha secretariat. The protesters said that the DK Kotia committee in its report has said that all the appointments in the Vidhan Sabha from the year 2000 to 2022 were illegal. All the ad hoc employees recruited prior to 2016 were regularised while the remaining 228 recruited in 2016, 2020 and 2021 were terminated by the speaker Khanduri on the recommendation of the expert committee headed by DK Kotia.
