CM hands over appointment letters to CHOs 

The State Health department has recruited 604 CHOs for community health centres

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the health and wellness centres played an important role during the pandemic of Covid 19 and the Community Health Officers (CHOs) are the strong pillars of these centres. He was addressing the ‘employment generation programme’ of the health department organised at his residence on Friday. He handed over the appointment letters to the newly appointed CHOs on the occasion. The State health department has recruited 604 CHOs recently.

Congratulating the CHOs, the CM said that the health and wellness centres are dedicated for the better health of the general public and their objective is to provide health services to the far flung areas. He said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a commitment to provide employment to 10 lakh youngsters every year and the programme of the health department is part of this commitment. CM said that about 1709 health and wellness centres are operational in Uttarakhand and now the State has got 604 CHOs. He said that India today is the fifth largest democracy of the world and under the leadership of PM Modi, the country is making rapid progress in every field. The CM said under the ‘Start up India campaign’ more than 80,000 startups have been set up in the country.

 He added that the Uttarakhand government is creating new employment opportunities for the youth and the ‘home stay sector is an example of this. The CM said that this year about 19 lakh people arrived in the health and wellness centres and free pathology tests of seven lakh people were done. Under the Jan Arogya Abhiyan, registration of 3.5 lakh people was done in the CHOs.

 The health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the health services are continuously being upgraded. He said that the health department would provide 10,000 jobs till March 2023 which include 2900 posts of nursing staff, 850 ANMs, 339 assistant professors in medical colleges, 376 doctors and 2000 technicians. The minister said that with the appointment of 604 CHOs, the State government has appointed CHOs in all the health and wellness centres. He said that apart from health checkups of the local people, the CHOs would create awareness towards health. The minister said that the CHOs should visit the villages and set up ‘ Health Chaupals’ there to create awareness in the people. The Dehradun Mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama, health secretary R Rajesh Kumar, the vice chancellor (VC) of the HNB medical education university Hem Chandra and others were present on the occasion.
