New State in-charge Selja gives message of unity to Cong leaders

 The newly appointed in-charge of Uttarakhand Congress Kumari Selja was accorded a warm welcome during her first visit to the State by the leaders and workers of the Congress party on Monday.  She was welcomed at the Dehradun airport by the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara, former chief minister Harish Rawat, the leader of opposition (LoP) in State Assembly Yashpal Arya, secretary All India Congress Committee (AICC) Qazi Nizamuddin, former PCC presidents Prirtam Singh and Ganesh Godiyal and MLAs of the party. Kumari Selja was also welcomed by the party workers at Doiwala, Harrawala, Rispana bridge and other places. Large crowd of party leaders and workers was present at the State party office to greet her.

 In the party office Selja remained cosseted with senior leaders of the party. She attended a meeting of the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the party. In another meeting she interacted with the MLAs and former MLAs of the party. She also met the office bearers, the leaders of frontal organisations and the district presidents of the party. In these meetings Selja directed the party leaders to remain prepared for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. She said that the Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge will visit Dehradun on January 28. Selja exhorted the party leaders and workers to work unitedly to face the challenge posed by the BJP.

In these meetings she also discussed the campaign ‘Donate for Desh’ campaign of the party. The campaign aimed at crowd-funding the party for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. MLAs Rajendra Bhandari, Tilak Raj Behed, Adesh Chauhan, Vikram Singh Negi, Mamta Rakesh, Furkan Ahmed, Gopal Singh Rana, Sumit Hridayesh, Virendra Jati, Ravi Bahadur, Harish Dhami and Madan Singh Bisht, former ministers Hira Singh Bisht, Nav Prabhat, Mantri Prasad Naithani, Surveer Singh Sajwan, party functionaries and others attended the meeting.

DEHRADUN : The national president of Congress party Mallikarjun Kharge will visit Dehradun on January 28. This would be the first visit of the veteran leader to the State after taking over the charge of the grand old party in October 2022. The new in charge of the State Congress Kumari Selja said that the Congress president will attend a mega conclave of the workers in Dehradun. Selja asked the State unit of the Congress party to make preparations for the visit of Congress president. Thousands of workers of the Congress party from all parts of the State will attend the Dehradun conclave chaired by the Congress president. The visit of Kharge who recently was also appointed president of the opposition INDI Alliance will kick-start the election campaign of the Congress party in Uttarakhand on January 28.
