DGP flags off chief constable to Mt Aconcagua

The officiating director general of police Abhinav Kumar on Friday flagged off State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) chief constable Rajendra Nath on his expedition to South America’s highest peak Mount Aconcagua (6,961 metres).  Kumar gave him the police insignia and wished him the best for his expedition. He said that the police department encourages personnel to participate in such adventure sports. SDRF personnel also continue to make constant efforts to enhance their professional skills by participating in adventure sports like kayaking, rafting, trekking and mountaineering. He said that SDRF has safely rescued many mountaineers, trekkers and tourists from India and abroad trapped on glaciers and trek routes. The successful rescue operations of foreign nationals and mountaineers by SDRF have also been praised by the embassies of countries like South Korea and America. SDRF commandant Manikant Mishra said that Nath is a member of the force’s high altitude rescue team. His successful expeditions to various mountain ranges have improved his efficiency in high altitude areas and inspired other personnel, Mishra added.
