The State’s Finance minister Prem Chand Agarwal took a review meeting with the officers of stamps and registrations department at his Vidhan Sabha office on Tuesday. He was informed that the stamps and registration department is very important in achieving revenue targets of the state government.

The minister directed the officers to undertake digitisation of the old records so that they are preserved. He said that a 100 day plan of the department should be prepared and all the offices of the department should be computerised. On a stern note, the minister said that necessary steps should be taken to prevent stamp theft. He said that the GST compensation to the states by the Union government is expected to end in June this year so we should find alternate sources of revenue. Agarwal said that the department should also adopt alternate measures for increasing the income and reducing the expenses.

The meeting was attended by finance secretary Surendra Pandey, commissioner of taxes Ahmed Iqbal, AGI Arun Pratap Singh, joint secretary Vikram Singh Rana and others.
