FDA conducts surprise inspections of various establishments in Pauri

Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) on Monday along with the Pauri food safety department conducted surprise inspections of various resorts, hotels and restaurants in the Pauri district near Rishikesh to check adulteration in food items served there under deputy commissioner GC Kandwal.

The officials said that the FDA team found 80 bottles of expired cold drinks in MJ River resort and destroyed them at the scene. Besides this, they also found expired packets of Poha. The officials said that the resort management was warned against keeping expired products on the premises for consumer consumption.

Besides this, the teams also suspected adulteration in some food items and collected their samples which include varieties of spices, loose Paneer, loose turmeric, water and loose mixed pulses. The collected samples will be sent for testing and after that, action will be taken accordingly against the establishment owners. The officials said that the FDA will continue such checking and inspections across the State, especially near the areas where the number of tourist visitors is expected to increase in Summer.
