CM appeals to other States to follow suit on UCC

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has made an appeal to all the States of the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). He said that the draft of the UCC for Uttarakhand would be ready by June 30.  The CM was addressing a public meeting in Kashipur in Udham Singh Nagar district on Monday. He said that the UCC draft of Uttarakhand would become a model for all the States of the country. Reiterating the commitment of his government against the land Jihad, the CM said that the action on the illegal encroachments would continue.  He said that work in the direction of constituting a strong land law is going on in the State. 

The CM said that the objective of the State government is to make it free from corruption and for this it has adopted a ‘zero tolerance for corruption’ policy.

He added that his government is taking brave and historical decisions on corruption, religious conversions, women reservation, land laws and UCC.

The CM said that the State government has fulfilled its promise of providing three gas cylinders free of cost to the people. A total of 1.81 lakh families are being provided three cooking gas cylinders in a year. He said that against a target of 15 lakh, drinking water connection has been provided to 11.30 households in the State. Taking a dig at the Congress party governments of the past, the CM said that earlier only the schemes were formulated but now they are being implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the country under the guidance of PM Modi has become the fifth largest economy of the world and now India is included in the leading states in the forum of global strategy and policy making. 

In the programme, the CM inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of 113 different developmental projects of Rs 355 Crores.  The CM said that Kashipur is fast developing into an industrial city and the government is committed to its further development. He added that in the last nine years projects worth Rs 1.5 lakh crores have been approved under the leadership of PM Modi. The CM assured that the demand of construction of flyover and bypass in Kashipur would be fulfilled.  

The Union minister of State for Tourism and Defence Ajay Bhatt and BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt also spoke on the occasion. 

MLAs Trilok Singh Cheema, Shiv Arora, Adesh Singh Chauhan, Arvind Pandey, the district magistrate of Udham Singh Nagar Yugal Kishore Pant, SSP Manjunath TC and others were present on the occasion.
