Taking strong objection to what it termed a highly derogatory comment made by the national general secretary and in charge of Uttarakhand BJP, Dushyant Gautam against Rahul Gandhi, the Uttarakhand Congress organised protests on Monday. The state unit of Congress has demanded that strict action should be taken against Gautam and he should be suspended from BJP.
On the day a group of Congress workers submitted a written complaint against Gautam at Kotwali police station. The Congress workers burned effigies of the BJP leaders and held protests in different parts of the state on the day.
The media in charge of Garhwal, Garima Dasauni said that the comment made by Gautam has not only affected the political dignity but shamed Uttarakhand which is referred to as Devbhoomi. She said that the statement of Gautam has sullied the image of Rahul Gandhi and hurt the sentiments of innumerable Congressmen of the country. She demanded that the police should register the complaint, investigate the case and arrest Gautam. Dasauni warned that if the police and administration fails to take action on the complaint of Congress party then the party would get prosecution orders from the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court in the issue.
