Team India certain to lift world cup trophy, says former Indian cricket captain

Former captain of the Indian cricket team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni said that he enjoyed peace of mind while visiting his native village Lawali in Almora district. The culture and values seen in Uttarakhand are not witnessed anywhere else in the world, Dhoni said during a brief interaction with this correspondent in Nainital on Friday.

Dhoni along with his wife Sakshi and daughter were in Nainital on their way back from his native village. He said this since he is on a personal visit he cannot say anything official. However, he said that India is certain to win the ODI cricket world cup trophy. He said that the players of the Indian cricket team had displayed considerable talent. Remaining unbeaten in all the matches so far is evidence of their talent. Team India is now just one step away from winning the trophy. Dhoni further opined that on Sunday, the nation will once again witness a celebration like it did in 2011. The former Indian captain is a native of Lawali village in Almora district. Due to his father’s job in Ranchi, his family shifted and settled there. While active in cricket, his life remained busy and prevented him from visiting his native village. During his recent visit to the village, Dhoni paid obeisance to the tutelary deity along with his family members. He is slated to celebrate his wife’s birthday in Nainital on Saturday.
