The Pioneer organises tree plantation along with MAD by BTD

Scores of fruit & flowering trees planted by concerned citizens

In order to contribute its bit to the conservation of the environment as part of the ongoing plantation drive across the State that started on Harela, The Pioneer, Dehradun edition organised a plantation activity on Sunday in association with Making a Difference by Being the Difference (MAD by BTD). The plantation was supported by the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) and the Horticulture department. As part of the activity, a number of youngsters and concerned citizens planted a number of fruit and flowering trees at the SGN Doon Vale School in the Race Course area. The Race Course ward councillor Devendra Pal Singh was the chief guest on the occasion. The councillor also planted various saplings along with the young volunteers and members of The Pioneer team. Speaking on the occasion, Singh stressed on the importance of planting trees and nurturing them along with the conservation of trees in the current times. About 60 saplings of various fruit trees including orange and pear along with different flowering and ornamental trees were planted at the site on the occasion. The young volunteers who participated enthusiastically in the plantation activity also vowed to nurture the saplings planted on Sunday to make sure that these grow up to be healthy trees in the future. The members of MAD by BTD who participated in the activity include Juhi, Ananya, Khushi, Prince, Ashutosh, Vikrant, and Avishesh among others.
