National Mathematics Day: NEP-2020 to revive the love for mathematics in students

The experts believe that the National Education Policy -2020 will help India regain its affection and attention for mathematics.  The NEP-2020 talks about making children skilled and in it the utility of mathematics from primary to higher education, training, research and exploration. Every year 22 December is celebrated as National Mathematics Day. It is held on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the great Mathematician of India, Acharya Ramanujam. The experts are of the view that among all the branches of knowledge, from ancient to modern, the place of mathematics has been supreme. Any branch of science is incomplete without the use, application of mathematics, it is unexplained. Mathematics is the mother of science and science has become the need of today’s time. Everyone is related to mathematics in some way or the other.  Prominent mathematicians point out that from the very beginning, our sages, scientists, books and Vedas had a very good knowledge of Mathematics due to which India was the leader in the field of knowledge and our place in the world was high. However this journey of Vishwa Guru was pushed back in history.

 They point out there are thousands of such formulas in Sanskrit which give us the feeling of being a master in mathematics. The value of π (Pi) in Rigveda is accurate up to 32 digits.  Brahmagupta, Aryabhata, Lilavati, Sridharacharya, Ramanujam introduced their mathematical knowledge of India to the world. The Professor and head of department of Mathematics at Soban Singh Jeena University Bipin Chandra Tiwari said, “Mathematics has always been helpful and useful irrespective of time.  Whether you are going to cosmos or doing quantum mathematics, its importance has always been there.’’

Noted mathematician, puzzle solver and Limca book of world record holder Harish Mohan Aithani said that Mathematics has a great value and significance with respect to numbers. Humanity has had great concerns with it since civilization.

Mathematics teacher K D Sharma said, “From top to bottom in any field of knowledge mathematics has left its imprint.’’
