U’khand to implement Uniform Civil Code soon: Dhami

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the state government is preparing to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) soon in Uttarakhand. He said that the government has taken effective steps in the direction of implementing UCC in the State. The CM said that 3,500 acres of government land has been freed from the illegal encroachment in Uttarakhand. He was addressing a programme organised by the natives of Uttarakhand in Indore Madhya Pradesh.

 He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is providing a new direction to the world. Dhami said that many such works were done in Uttarakhand with the guidance of PM Modi and help of the union government which were earlier considered impossible.

 He said that in the last five years projects of more than Rs 1.50 lakh crores were approved by the union government for Uttarakhand. The CM said that the reconstruction of Kedarnath and beautification of Badrinath are the best examples of the vision, leadership and commitment of PM Modi. The Dehradun airport Jollygrant is being upgraded to international standards while a Greenfield airport will be developed in Udham Singh Nagar. Dhami said that with the setting up of a satellite centre of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, everything is clear in the way of two AIIMS in the State. Heliports are being constructed in 13 places in the State and emphasis is being given on construction of ropeways. The government is planning to connect every village with a highway and the long cherished dream of rail in mountains will be realised with the completion of Rishikesh-Karanprayag rail project.

 Dhami said that the State has enacted a stringent anti-copying law after which all the competitive examinations were conducted in a transparent manner. He said that the government is working in the direction of ensuring that the third decade of the 21st century belongs to Uttarakhand. 

Expressing happiness for being among the Uttarakhandis, the CM said that Uttarakhand Sanskritik Sanstha is engaged in many works in social service. He said that when he meets people of Uttarakhand in different parts of the country then there is a feeling of Shrestha Uttarakhand.
