While raising the problems in the education and medical sectors being faced by the people of two development blocks of Pithoragarh district- Munsiyari and Dharchula-the district panchayat member Jagat Martolia asked the district magistrate Reena Joshi to take prompt steps to solve them.

He said that in view of several posts of teachers remaining vacant in these two development blocks, temporary appointments should be made from Khanij Foundation. “Though the number of students is very high in these two development blocks hundreds of teachers’ posts have remained vacant,” he said. He further said that the number of teachers is high as compared to the number of students in Pithoragarh, Moonakot and Kanalichina development blocks, adding that the district chief education officer should make the official records on this matter available for the people.  He also said that the list of attached teachers outside development blocks of Munsiyari and Dharchula of the district should be made public.

Apprising the DM of the problem the people of these two development blocks of the district have been facing due to the shortage of doctors and ANMs, Martolia said that new appointments are not being made in these two blocks as they border on China and Nepal. He said that they are being appointed instead at convenient places near the district headquarters. “This is wrong and the district administration must intervene.

He said that the DM Joshi had assured him that appropriate actions would be taken on these demands.
