In latest news from Uttarakhand, Chamoli police held a bootlegger from Gauchar who would smuggle smacks from Deharadun on chopper. Police looked baffled when the drug smuggler-identified as Aloke Thapliyal, resident of ward no 7 of Dronagiri Gauchar- said during interrogation that he had been smuggling smacks on helicopter for a number of years. Police said he had been held with seven gram smack from near the Gauchar airstrip. The narcotics smuggler is learnt to have told police during questioning that he used to sell the contrabands to the people working for railway companied at higher prices. An FIR was lodged against him at Karnprayag police station under the relevant sections of NDPS Act.
