A baby elephant died after getting hit by a train near Motichur railway track in Raiwala, Dehradun. The accident reportedly happened due to a goods train coming from Haridwar. According to the sources, it is being suspected that on late Friday night, the baby of the elephant must have separated from the herd and reached the railway track while wandering during which the incident happened. The forest officials had reached the spot and the postmortem of the elephant was carried out.
