In latest news from Doon, the State animal husbandry minister Saurabh Bahuguna said that cow shelters are being built in all the districts of the State to house the stray cattle whose number is about 27,000. While speaking on the matter during the zero hour on the third day of the ongoing Budget session of the assembly, he said that the State government has allotted Rs 17 crore for the execution of the project. He further said that stringent law would be introduced soon for protecting cows. Notably, the lawmaker Gopal Singh Rana raised this matter in the House. Bahuguna informed that so far 3500 cattle had been sent to cow shelters and urged the MLAs to release funds from their MLA LAD fund for the cause of protecting cows and their progeny.
