Dhami tells officers to take up apple & kiwi production on mission  mode

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that apple and kiwi production should be taken up in mission mode in Uttarakhand. The CM took the review of the Cooperative department at the State secretariat on Friday. He said that regular monitoring of apple and kiwi production should be done and focus should be done on the branding, packaging and marketing of these fruits. The CM suggested that nodal officers should be appointed in every Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS) to strengthen them. He said that organic farming should be promoted by adopting the cluster approach and cooperatives should be linked with agriculture. He said that millet production should be encouraged in the State and training and conferences should be organised from time to time for the people associated with cooperatives.

 He directed that the flagship schemes of the union and the State governments should be publicized so that the maximum number of people can benefit from them. He opined that linking more and more people with the Deendayal Upadhyaya Cooperative credit scheme would be helpful in increasing the income of farmers and meeting the objective of women empowerment. Speaking on the occasion, the cooperatives minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that CM Ghasyari welfare scheme is faring well in the State and the union government has also appreciated the scheme. He said 660 out of 670 PACS have been computerised in the State and Uttarakhand and Telangana are the leading states in computerisation of these societies.

The additional chief secretary Radha Raturi, secretary BVRC Purushottam, registrar cooperatives Alok Kumar and others were present on the occasion.
