DGP holds virtual meeting with police of neighbouring states

The Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttarakhand, Ashok Kumar held a virtual coordination meeting with the police officials of Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and in-charges of border districts in view of the ensuing Assembly elections. Kumar said that the meeting was organised on the directions of the Election Commission to conduct the elections in a fair and peaceful manner next month ensuring compliance with the protocols. The officials discussed and took various decisions in the meeting. It was decided to install CCTV cameras at inter-state barriers to restrict illegal activities. The officials also decided to set up wireless sets and form a WhatsApp group for the quick exchange of information about conducting joint checking and deployment of personnel with mutual coordination at the borders.

A joint strategy was also prepared to prevent the smuggling of illegal drugs, liquor, arms and cash. The police officials also decided to exchange the list of wanted criminals besides staying vigilant for people and anti-social elements that might spread communal tension in the poll-bound state.  The police also decided to monitor the social media activities of such people. Besides the DGP, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of UP police Rajiv Sabharwal and Inspector General of Police DK Yadav and Superintendent of Police, Umapati Jamwal of Himachal Pradesh police were also present among other police officers.
