Dengue larvae found in 73 houses

The Health department identified 73 houses in Dehradun that were positive for dengue larvae, following a survey conducted by ASHA workers and volunteers on Tuesday. The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Dehradun Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma said that as part of an action plan, ASHA workers and volunteers are assigned to carry out daily dengue awareness campaigns and inspect for larvae.
On Tuesday, ASHA workers surveyed 12,296 houses, while volunteers inspected 8,166 houses. Out of these surveys, 73 houses were found to have larvae, with 27 positive cases identified by ASHA workers and 46 by volunteers, he said.
Sharma further informed that so far, ASHA workers and volunteers have conducted house surveys of 1,78926 houses, revealing that 617 were positive for larvae.
Regarding dengue cases, Sharma said that no new positive cases were reported in Dehradun on Tuesday. This keeps the total number of confirmed dengue cases (ELISA-positive) at 49, including 29 patients from Dehradun and 20 from other districts or states. The CMO further said that currently, three individuals are hospitalised. On Tuesday, a total of 46 dengue samples were collected, contributing to an overall total of 3,468 samples collected to date, he said.
