Health Minister Rawat kick starts Health Fairs in U’khand

Uttarakhand health minister Dhan Singh Rawat inaugurated health fair in Raipur block of Dehradun district on Monday along with Tehri Garhwal MP Mala Rajya Lakshmi Shah and Raipur MLA Umesh Sharma ‘Kau’ on the occasion of fourth anniversary of Ayushman Bharat Yojana. Rawat said on the occasion that health fairs will be organised in all 95 blocks of the state from April 18 to April 23. Besides this, one-day health fair camps were also organised in all municipal bodies of the state on Monday.

He said during the event that the process of setting up medical colleges in Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and Pithoragarh districts will start soon as the central government has given its approval for the proposed project. He also announced to give an ambulance to Raipur Hospital on the occasion and said that a mandate will be issued soon too to make it a 30 bedded hospital. The minister said that the state government is serious about the health of the public and initiatives like making Ayushman cards and digital health cards for the public are being taken in the health fair too. Besides this, the state is also working on making the state free of tuberculosis (TB). The government will also launch helicopter ambulance service for people living in the inaccessible areas of the state which would be possible to access by just dialling toll free number 108, added the health minister. The Tehri Garhwal MP also expressed her gratitude to all health personnel and Aanganwadi workers for their services during the Covid-19 pandemic period. She said that authorities should run awareness programmes to spread information of several welfare schemes run by the central and state government to make them available to more and more people as is being done through this health fair.

 The Raipur MLA, Kau also thanked the health minister for the initiative of providing 30 beds to the Raipur hospital as according to him, people from nearby districts also arrive in the hospital for the treatment that generally causes shortage of beds for patients. With more beds and an additional ambulance, the public will get better treatment in the hospital, added Kau. Maharana Pratap Sports College, Raipur and Chanakya Academy were also awarded with the Eat Right Campus Awards for the best food delivery system in their respective campuses as per the norms set by the Food Safety Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) under Eat Right India Mission. Besides the ministers, health secretary  Pankaj Kumar Pandey, director general (DG) of health services Dr Tripti Bahuguna, Chief Medical Officer Dr Manoj Kumar Upreti along with concerned officials and local public representatives were present.
