A woman from Delhi died and three persons sustained serious injuries after the car they were travelling in fell into a gorge in Mussoorie on Monday. The deceased was identified as Ruchi Juneja (40) who was travelling along with her husband Manoj Juneja (44) and two sons Mridul (16) and Ishaan (11), said the officials. They informed that the husband and two children sustained injuries and were sent to hospital after authorities rescued them from the gorge. The officials said that the Mussoorie Police Station received information through 112 that a car had fallen into a gorge near Clouds End on the road leading to Hathipaon. The police left for the accident site along with the necessary equipment. A team from fire services was also called at the spot to carry out the rescue operation, as per the officials. The teams found out on reaching the spot that the car had fallen into a 25 metre deep gorge and was hanging on the trees that put the lives of victims in more danger. The teams with the help of local people reached near the vehicle and rescued four people trapped in the vehicle. The police observed that the woman was not moving while the remaining three sustained injuries. They all were sent to a hospital in Mussoorie for treatment. The doctors informed that the woman was brought dead and the other victims sustained minor injuries. The body will be handed over to the family after completing the necessary procedure, added officials.
