Psychological warfare

A seasoned politician that he is, Harish Rawat has perfected the art of psychological warfare over his political opponents. In his latest move the old warhorse and the tallest leader of Congress in Uttarakhand has made grandson of BJP ideologue Deen Dayal Upadhyaya his honorary advisor.  Though one is free to support any political dispensation of his liking and grandson of Upadhyaya too is not an exception however wily Rawat spread the message on the social media platforms for affecting a psychological blow on the saffron party. To rub salt on the injury Rawat also praised the role played the grandson of Upadhyaya in providing legal assistance and relief to the statehood activists in the infamous Rampur Tiraha case and handed him the responsibility to bring justice to the victims of the ghastly Muzaffarnagar incident. With one arrow the master politician has struck twin targets of hitting the BJP ideologically and attaining the moral high ground on the sensitive issue of injustice meted out to the victims of statehood movement.

Crorepati Babu

A letter of recommendation purportedly written by the head of the saffron party in the Himalayan state in the month of June is causing red faces among the ruling dispensation. The letter recommended extension in service of a Babu of Transport department in which he was referred to as a highly efficient, hard working and technical expert. However the expertise of the Babu could be well understood by the fact that in May 2019 a robbery occurred in his house in which the miscreants went away with booty of Rs 1.31 crore but the Babu kept the loot a secret. The veil over the robbery was removed when the police arrested a gang involved in a high profile heist at the residence of the owner of a renowned cricket academy after some months. On interrogation the gang informed the police that they had also looted Rs 1.31 crore from the residence of a Babu of Transport department. Thankfully the recommendation letter failed to get an extension in service for the Babu who finally superannuated on July 31.

Haridwar Hangover

A highly efficient and popular bureaucrat was able to resurrect his hurt pride after the government reinstated him to the position from where he was removed a few days earlier. The debonair Babu with a huge following on the social media for his exploits was removed from the assignment of Kumbh in Haridwar in a major rejig affected by the Dhami government. It is rumoured that the officer was not happy with the shunting orders from Haridwar and was able to have his way back to the city. One wonders what attraction the city holds for him and why the government is still reluctant to dismantle the administrative system for Kumbh Mela which had officially ended in April.
