In latest Uttarakhand news, the State cabinet minister in charge of Nainital district Rekha Arya said in Haldwani after conducting on-ground inspection of the heavy rain-affected areas that there is dearth of budget and the State government has provided sufficient budget to take on any disaster-triggered emergency. The places she inspected included Kathgodam-Haidakhan Road and Gaula bridge which have been witnessing landslides and land erosion in the wake of heavy rain. She also inspected the railway tracks on which landslides and land erosion are occurring. She directed the department officials concerned to take immediate steps to ensure that   Kathgodam-Haidakhan Road is repaired and restored at the earliest so that the locals do not face inconveniences. As far as the landslides happening on Gaula bridge and on the railway tracks are concerned, she asked the department officials concerned to come with a well-defined strategy aiming at evolving a permanent solution to these recurring problems at the next meeting. She assured the affected families that the State government is standing by them in this time of distress and would provide all possible assistance.
