Many councillors in the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) have warned that they will stage a protest if the corporation doesn’t act in the case wherein Sonia Anand had allegedly misbehaved with the Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ in his office. They have also sought the formation of a high level committee to ascertain the status of MCD lands.
The councillors submitted a memorandum to the municipal commissioner. It is stated in the memorandum that on Wednesday, Sonia Anand and some persons with her had barged into the office of the mayor and behaved improperly with him. They also used improper language for the councillors and when the employees intervened, they threatened them, alleged the councillors. The councillors stated that on the proposal of the local councillor, the MCD board had unanimously cancelled the no objection certificate granted to the MDDA for a park in Rajeshwarnagar Phase I, as the MDDA had allotted that plot to a private organisation (Goonj) for developing a private park.The councillors demanded that an FIR be lodged against the woman concerned along with the persons who were with her. The unauthorised board/wall constructed on the land should be demolished without delay, the councillors demanded.Attachments area
