Launching a scathing attack on the Puskhar Singh Dhami government, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal has said that corruption is the only achievement of the BJP government. Talking to the media persons at Congress Bhawan here on Saturday, Godiyal said that when Dhami took oath as chief minister of the state he claimed that he will talk less and work more and also promised to put a rein on corruption but his promises have evaporated in thin air. He said that questions were raised by the then governor on the 56 appointments in Uttarakhand Open University but the issue has been put under the carpet. Similarly, he said a private company was hired for recruitment in the cooperative department and this company conducted examinations outside Uttarakhand. “We demand that a committee headed by the Leader of Opposition in the state assembly should be constituted to inquire into the issue,’’ he said.

The PCC president said that no action has been taken in the scholarship scam, Kumbh testing scam and Building and other construction workers welfare Board which clearly shows that the state government is protecting the culprits.

Warning about what he claimed another scam in making, the PCC president said that the state government is planning to give the contract to supply the tablets to the students of the government colleges of the state to a Public Sector company. He said that the government should keep transparency in the purchase of tablets and invite tenders for it. Godiyal said that in case the PSU is asked to provide the tablets then it should adhere to the required process and guidelines. The PCC president said that the contractors and the vehicle suppliers of Uttarakhand are not given work in the ongoing Rishikesh- Karnprayag Rail project.

On the question of the state government’s recent order to the police and district magistrates (DMs) on the change in demography and resultant migration, the PCC president said that the government should disclose the facts. He said that the government should refrain from raising emotive issues. The PCC president added that if some unwanted elements have infiltrated into the state then they should be identified.
