Cong demands SIT probe in UBCWWB irregularities

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh has said that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) inquiry should be ordered into the alleged irregularities in the Uttarakhand Building and other Construction Workers Welfare Board (UBCWWB). Interacting with the media persons at the state headquarters of the Congress party here on Wednesday, the PCC chief said that an in-depth inquiry should be conducted in the UBCWWB so that truth comes out. He said that the cabinet minister Harak Singh Rawat is stating that the Chief Minister was informed about transfer of fund to an agency for construction of 300 bed ESIC hospital in Kotdwar while the new chairman of the board is stating something else. On the statement of the minister that he is not ‘ Abhimanyu’ of Mahabharat epic who would get killed in the last stage of ‘ Charaviyuvah’, the Congress leader quipped that though Abhimanyu was killed while defending the last Chakra, the history still remembers him. He said that the inquiry would reveal how the number of workers registered with the board increased and how many non eligible candidates were distributed tools and cycles meant for construction workers.

On the farmers protest the PCC chief said that a draconian law has been enforced on the farmers and they are up against it. He said that it is clear that the Narendra Modi government has adopted an apathetic and stringent stance on the issue which is the reason why no breakthrough has been achieved despite several rounds of talks with the farmers.
