In a major gift to the personal secretaries of the State secretariat services, the state government has decided to give those personal secretaries the option of Old Pension Scheme (OPS), who were appointed in the service after clearing the additional PS examination- 2007 . These employees are at present covered under the New Pension Scheme (NPS).

The approval for the option of OPS was given by the additional chief secretary Radha Raturi. A similar order for the review officers appointed in the secretariat services on the basis of the ARO examination 2007 is likely to be released on Wednesday. A total of 250 employees of the State secretariat will get the benefit of the OPS. These employees were demanding OPS on the plea that the notification of their recruitment examination was issued before the implementation of the NPS.

The president of Uttarakhand chapter of National Movement for Old Pension Scheme (NMOPS), Jeetmani Painyuli expressed happiness on the development. He said that the NMOPS will continue to fight for restoration of OPS for all the employees.
