Coordination between the producer and exporter will have to be facilitated to boost export from the State. Linking residents of border areas to export will increase the acceptance of the products of such areas and also make access to the producers easier. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said this while speaking at a seminar held here on the subject of encouraging exports from Uttarakhand on Friday. He said that concrete efforts are being undertaken to encourage industries in the State. The atmosphere in the State is conducive for industry with an ideal law and order situation providing a better environment for those wanting to invest in the industrial sector. He exhorted entrepreneurs connected to export to prepare a plan which becomes an achievement of the State in 2025. He said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given us the ‘Local goes global- make in India for the world’ slogan.

The PM has said that export is the ladder which will enable the nation to reach the developed category from that of a developing nation. Under PM Modi’s leadership, the nation is progressing swiftly and has become a major economic power and a leader of the global community.” Dhami recalled the works done by India to help other nations also during the Covid-19 pandemic. The CM recalled that PM Modi had stated that the third decade of this century will belong to Uttarakhand. He said that the State government is working to make Uttarakhand among the best States of the nation by 2025 when the State celebrates 25 years of its creation. “We have set a target to double the State’s GDP in the next five years. Special focus will have to be laid on exports for this. Uttarakhand is moving towards becoming a favoured destination for investment in north India due to its progressive policy structure, availability of quality human resource and proximity to important markets in the nation. We are also focusing on improving the contribution of the service sector. The tourism sector has been accorded industry status,” added the CM.
